PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown open sailing team prepares for its final event of the fall season, with the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Match Race National Championship this weekend.
The University of South Florida is hosting the event at St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Racing will take place from Nov. 15-16.Â
Senior Guthrie Braun was an at-large selection for the event. He will be joined by senior Katherine McNamara, junior Camren Spriggs, and sophomore Charlie Gish in representing Brown, with senior Caroline Keeffe-Jones and junior Blake Behrens serving as alternates. The group finished second in the NEISA Match Race Championship in the U.S. Coast Guard Academy earlier this year, and were selected for Nationals based on their strong resume by the College Sailing Nationals Selection Committee.
Criteria for selection in the ICSA Match Race National Championship includes performances in Match Race and Doublehanded ICSA regattas throughout each candidate's career. Non-ICSA regattas are again not considered for selection.Â
In 2024, the same squad of Braun, McNamara, Spriggs, and Gish claimed second place in the ICSA Match Race National Championship, just behind Boston College.Â
