Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion
Brown University sails at the Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion, part of the Edgewood Yacht Club in Cranston R.I. A short drive from campus, Edgewood boasts some of the finest winds on Narragansett Bay. In addition, the varied shoreline allows the team to practice in a multitude of different conditions that mimic the varied venues in college sailing. The club is approximately four miles from campus and visible from the Sciences Library.
The new Edgewood Yacht Club replaced an early 20th Century Shingle Style building lost to fire in 2011. The new design reflects the essence of the original in character, scale and materials with a more modern presence, and incorporates state-of-the art features. The Yacht Club utilizes the main floor, while the second floor houses the Ted Turner ’60 Sailing Pavilion, serving the Brown University sailing team.
The opening and dedication of the Ted Turner Sailing Pavilion happened on May 12, 2018 with over 200 alumni, parents, and friends of Brown Sailing in attendance.
