On November 16, 2024, Brown Baseball Head Coaching Chair Grant Achilles announced the newest members of the Bears’ baseball program, signing 10-year-old twin brothers Logan and Nolan Choquette through Team IMPACT.
Logan and Nolan, who have a bleeding disorder, were officially introduced at a signing day ceremony in the Bears’ Student-Athlete Lounge. The event featured a pizza party, the presentation of official Brown Baseball team gear, and hanging out with their new teammates at a Brown football game. The brothers will participate in many activities with the team including games, practices, and other team events.
Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
Brown University and its programs have been partnering with Team IMPACT for 13 years, with 35 children being placed with different teams across the Athletics and Recreation Division.
“Our program got better today by signing Logan and Nolan through the Team Impact partnership,” Achilles said. “They face adversity head on with bravery, celebrate victories with joy, and regularly encounter unknown circumstances with confidence. I am eager to see how their character and personalities reverberate through Brown Baseball for this season and many to follow.”
“Logan and Nolan are huge additions to our program, and we are all stoked to have them around going forward,” sophomore pitcher Ryan Oshinskie said. “They always show up with excited smiles on their faces and unmatched gratitude; both are things our team prioritizes and can continue to learn from. We hope to offer them a network of support where they can have fun and feel comfortable being themselves.”
“We couldn’t be more excited to announce the signing of Nolan and Logan to the team,” junior infielder Zack Siegel said. “Their energy, focus, and passion for the game makes them both perfect fits for our program, and we are thrilled to officially welcome these boys to be a part of the Brown Baseball Brotherhood. Being involved in Team Impact has been a great experience, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Nolan and Logan’s journey.”
“Team IMPACT is excited to see Logan and Nolan join the Bears,” said Emma Simches, Regional Director of Programs, Northeast at Team IMPACT. “We are proud to partner with Brown University, their athletic department, and coaching staff to create lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes between student-athletes and their Team IMPACT teammates.”
