Bill Murphy joined Brown baseball staff as an assistant coach and pitching coach in September 2014.Â
Before coming to Brown, Murphy spent the 2014 season as an assistant coach at Georgetown. In addition to overseeing the development of the outfielders, Murphy assisted with recruiting and scouting, as well as the strength and conditioning program and camps.
Murphy also spent the 2014 summer as the co-manager and pitching coach of the Battle Creek Bombers in the prestigious Northwoods League. As the leader of the pitching staff, he coached two mid-season all-stars, one postseason all-star and three top-100 prospects.
Prior to Georgetown, Murphy spent the 2013 season as an assistant coach for the Rockville Express of the Cal Ripken Collegiate League. Aside from working with the Express hitters and as a strength coach, Murphy served as an assistant coach in the CRCL All-Star Game.
Before his stint in Rockville, Murphy spent time with the Middlesex Rays of the ABCCL, after serving as the associate head coach and varsity pitching coach at Roselle Catholic High School. He helped lead his alma mater to the semi finals of the Parochial B in 2013.Â
Murphy graduated from Rutgers University in 2010, where he pitched for three years, before using up his final year of eligibility as a first baseman at Wagner College. Murphy graduated from Wagner with his MBA in 2013.
