Second Half Surge Propels Women’s Lacrosse to Senior Day Triumph Over Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After the game was tied 6-6 at halftime, the Brown women's lacrosse team (7-5, 3-2 Ivy) outscored Dartmouth (6-9, 1-4 Ivy) 6-3 in the second half to earn a 12-9 victory on Saturday at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
The Bears have opened their home slate 5-0 for the first time since the 2013 season.
Caroline Nozzolillo tallied four goals to go along with one assist, Ruby Sliwkowski added three goals and two assists. The reigning Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week has 13 goals, seven assists, and 20 points over the last four games.
Mackenzie Conway finished with a career-high 13 saves, Annie Dignazio finished with four draw controls and three ground balls.
Brown outscored Dartmouth 3-2 in the first quarter behind goals from Sliwkowski, Kiki Tormey, and Nozzolillo.
Nozzolillo opened the second quarter with her second goal of the game, extending the Bears' lead to 4-2. After Nozzolillo's second goal, the Big Green countered with two-straight goals to tie the game at four. After Dartmouth's run, goals from Sliwkowski and Mackenzie Farley gave Brown a 6-4 lead.
The Big Green closed the first half on a 2-0 run, bringing the game tied at six at halftime. After Dartmouth opened the second half with a goal, Brown mounted a 4-0 run to close the third as it took a 10-7 lead into the fourth quarter. Conway stopped four shots in the third, giving her seven stops through the first three quarters.
Each team found the back of the net twice in the fourth quarter as Sliwkowski and Tessie Batchelder scored for the Bears. Conway stopped six shots in the fourth quarter, helping guide the Bears to their third-straight win.
Brown will return to action on Saturday, Apr. 18 when it welcomes Princeton, the opening draw control is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Fans can purchase tickets here.
