Baseball Dominates Princeton to Sweep Doubleheader
3/28/2026 6:11:00 PM | Baseball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown baseball team (9-11, 4-1 Ivy) received two sensational starts on the mound and a solid day offensively to sweep both ends of a doubleheader from Princeton (7-15, 2-3 Ivy) by scores of 4-0 in game one and a 14-1 rout in game two.
Brown is now off to its first 4-1 start in Ivy League play since 2009, when it started 8-1.
Senior Peter Dubie struck out 15 batters over 7.0 shutout innings in the opener, allowing seven hits and zero walks. The 15 strikeouts blew past his previous career-high (9) and are the most strikeouts in a single game by a Brown pitcher since Alex Silverman had 16 against Yale in 2008, and are the most-ever at Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium (opened in 2017).
In game two, reigning Ivy Rookie of the Week Drew Nelson also dominated for the second straight start, going 8.0 innings and allowing one unearned run on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts on 95 pitches. Going back to last week's start at Yale, he has not allowed an earned run in his last 15.0 innings.
Senior Mika Petersen was 4-for-7 with three RBIs and a run scored in the doubleheader, including going 4-for-4 with a walk in game two.
GAME 1
Between Dubie and Christian Keel, Brown pitching struck out 18 Princeton hitters in the opener.
Princeton put runners in scoring position with less than two outs in each of the first three innings, but Dubie had the out pitch and danced out of trouble in each frame, including back-to-back strikeouts with the bases loaded to end the third.
The game remained scoreless into the sixth inning when the Bears broke through for three runs. Alex Benevento lined an RBI double to the gap in right-center for the first run, and DJ Dillehay followed next with a two-run homer the opposite way to right field for the 3-0 lead.

In the eighth inning, Brown tacked on an insurance run when Matt Luigs led off with a bunt single, stole second, and came in to score on a sac fly by Benevento.
GAME 2
The Bears wasted no time jumping on the Tigers in game two, scoring at least two runs in each of the first five innings to take a 13-1 lead after five innings.
Dillehay delivered a two-run double down the left field line in the first, Petersen hit his first home run of the season leading off the third, and Logan Meusy added a two-run single in the fourth to highlight the onslaught.

In the eighth inning, Jack Edmunds crushed a 2-1 pitch 413 feet over the left field wall for a no-doubter that made it 14-1.
