Baseball Completes Sweep of Princeton with 4-0 Shutout
3/29/2026 4:00:00 PM | Baseball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown baseball team got another dominant start on the mound from Dylan Reid as the Bears blanked Princeton by a score of 4-0 on Sunday afternoon to complete the weekend three-game sweep. The Bears (10-11, 5-1 Ivy) outscored Princeton (7-16, 2-4 Ivy) 22-1 over the three games.
Reid delivered his second sensational start in as many weekends with 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just one hit and three walks while striking out seven. Christian Keel tossed 2.0 scoreless innings to finish it off, sophomore Alex Benevento hit a three-run homer, freshman Matt Luigs scored twice, and senior Mika Petersen had two hits.
Â
Reid worked around two walks to start the second inning and got a big strikeout to end the threat. He then retired 18 of the next 20 batters to finish off his outing. Spanning his last three starts, Reid has not allowed a run over his last 17.2 innings pitched.
Â
The Bears got all the offense they needed in the third inning with Cam LaGrassa and Luigs singling, followed by a big two-out three-run homer from Benevento that just got over the left field wall. The shot was his team-leading fourth of the season.
Â
Â
The Bears added some insurance with an unearned run in the fifth when Luigs walked, stole second, and later crossed the plate on an error by the shortstop.
Â
The Tigers made things interesting in the ninth inning, bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs after a pair of singles and a walk, but Keel was able to induce a ground out to seal the win.
Â
The Bears will return to action this Tuesday afternoon, March 31 with a non-league matchup against Bryant. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
