
Men’s Tennis Drops Midweek Match at Stetson

DELAND, Fla. - The Brown men's tennis team (15-7) dropped a midweek match at Stetson, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
In doubles play, Ivan Sodan and Lukas Phimvongsa put together a strong effort, but were defeated 6-4 by Kartik Mandla and Alexandre Verlaguet. Zander Bravo and Noah Hernandez followed with a tight battle of their own before falling 7-6 to Christian Kuehne and Santia Padilla Cote. Cole Oberg and Elliot Wasserman secured a 7-6 win over Xavier Sarda Marti and James Lorenzetti to round out doubles action.
In singles action, Sodan fell to Verlaguet in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Phimvongsa and Kuehne were in a match that stood at 6-4, 6-7 before going unfinished. Hernandez and Sarda Marti were similarly in a third set at 6-4, 3-6, 5-4 when play was stopped. Robert Yang was in a deciding set against Lorenzetti, 6-1, 6-7, before their match ended at 2-2. Wasserman fell to Padilla Cote, 7-5, 7-5, and Bravo was topped by Mihnea Maftei with a 6-2, 6-3 result.
The Bears will kick off Ivy League play this weekend at home as they welcome Yale to the Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m.
