Baseball Drops Midweek Matchup with Stonehill
3/24/2026 6:24:00 PM | Baseball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball offense was silenced in a 6-0 midweek loss to Stonehill on Tuesday afternoon at Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium. The loss snaps Brown's (7-11) two-game winning streak, while Stonehill (7-13) has now won four straight.
Freshman Camren Piwnicki tossed 2.2 perfect innings of relief with no walks, throwing 18 of his 28 pitches for strikes. Five different players registered hits for the Bears.
After allowing a pair of singles in the first inning, Stonehill pitchers retired 20 of 22 Brown batters spanning the first through the seventh innings, with Brown's only baserunners during that span coming on a walk and an error.
After a quick first two innings, Stonehill put two runs on the board in the second. After an error and a single put two aboard, a two-run single drove in both runners (one unearned) for the 2-0 lead.
Stonehill doubled the lead in the fourth inning on a two-run homer. Another run crossed the plate in the sixth inning courtesy of two hits and a walk followed by a sac fly that made it 5-0.
The Skyhawks then loaded the bases with nobody out in the ninth and scored a run on a bases loaded walk before Brown escaped the inning without further damage thanks to a double play.
The Bears will return to action this weekend with a three-game series at home against Princeton. First pitch for game one of Saturday's doubleheader is set for 11:30 a.m. on ESPN+.
