Men’s Tennis Defeats Bryant and Stonehill in Saturday Doubleheader

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team (15-6) secured a 7-0 win over Bryant (3-14) and a 6-1 win over Stonehill (3-9) in its doubleheader on Saturday inside the Pizzitola Sports Center.
In doubles play against Bryant, Zander Bravo and Noah Hernandez were topped by Miguel Angel Machado and Daniel Baquero, 6-2. Ivan Sodan and Lukas Phimvongsa earned a 6-1 win over Myles Peterson and Manveer Boparai, and the duo of Cole Oberg and Elliot Wasserman closed out the round with a tight 7-5 victory against Alec Martinez and Forbes Hollingsworth.
In singles action, Sodan rallied for a three‑set win over Machado, 4-6, 7-5, 10-7. Phimvongsa continued with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Boparai, while Robert Yang added a 6-2, 6-2 win over Hollingsworth. Hernandez battled to defeat Baquero in a 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 decision, and Wasserman delivered a 6-0, 6-0 performance against Peterson. Alex Koong earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over George Howard.
In doubles play against Stonehill, Hernandez and Bravo topped Hector Cebrian and Benjamin Beaudry in a 6-1 win. Sodan and Phimvongsa also earned a 6-4 victory against Jacob Borch‑Nielsen and Nicolas Arredondo, and the pairing of Oberg and Wasserman completed a 6-1 victory over Guillermo Bennaton and Javier Gutierrez.
In singles, Sodan earned a 6-0, 6-3 win against Bennaton, while Phimvongsa delivered another 6-0, 6-1 win over Cebrian. Hernandez battled through three sets to defeat Beaudry, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, and Yang added a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Borch‑Nielsen. Stonehill's Alessandro Munoz edged Koong 7-6, 6-2, but Oberg got the 6-0, 6-2 win against Arredondo.
The Bears will travel to DeLand, Fla. on Tuesday, Mar. 24, to compete against Stetson at 10 a.m.
