
Baseball Rallies for Saturday Split at Yale

Senior Mika Petersen was 4-for-8 in the two games and senior DJ Dillehay was 3-for-5 with four RBIs including a homer in game one.
Nelson delivered his finest collegiate start to date in the second game, firing 7.0 strong innings while allowing one earned run on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts to pick up his second win. Christian Keel tossed 2.0 scoreless innings for his third save.
After Brown's fast start in the opener, Yale scored nine unanswered to close game one and scored runs in seven consecutive innings between the two games.
GAME 1
The Bears jumped on Yale starter Jack Ohman with three runs on four hits in the first inning. Dillehay laced a double inside the bag at third to go up 1-0, and Logan Meusy dropped a two-run single into left field for a three-run lead.

The Bears tacked on two more runs in the top of the third, starting with Dillehay who launched a 2-0 fastball over the left field wall for this first home run of the season. Christian Butera then worked a walk and came in on an RBI single by Petersen to push the lead to 5-0.

After six up, six-down through the first two innings, Yale exploded for five runs on five hits and batted around to tie the game in the bottom of the third.
Brown immediately got two runs back in the fourth, taking advantage of a walk and hit-by-pitch while getting into the Yale bullpen before Dillehay lined a two-run single to left-center to score two runs.
The Bulldogs came back with one on a walk and a double in the bottom of the fourth to cut it to 7-6 after four innings.
Yale then took control of the game by scoring two runs in each of the final four innings. After a leadoff home run to tie the score in the fifth, Yale took its first lead of the game 8-7 after four walks forced in a run. The Bulldogs also added two more runs in each of the next three innings to win 14-7.
GAME 2
Yale scored a run on two hits in the first inning. Benevento made a diving catch in foul territory to end the second inning to get Brown out of a jam.

Brown loaded the bases with nobody out in the third inning but was unable to score.
From there, Yale pitching retired 12 Brown hitters in a row, ending when Butera led off the top of the seventh with a double. Up next, Petersen blooped a single into left field, and Butera raced around from second when the left fielder kicked the ball to tie the game 1-1.

Benevento delivered the big blow in the eighth inning, hammering a 3-2 pitch deep over the left field wall for what proved to be the game-winning solo homer.

Keel got the final six outs for his third save of the season, escaping a second and third jam in the eighth, followed by a one-two-three ninth.
The Bears and Bulldogs will play the rubber match of their three-game series on Sunday starting at noon.
