Women’s Lacrosse Claims 10-8 Win at Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. - The Brown women's lacrosse team (3-3, 1-0) claimed a 10-8 win at Boston University (4-4, 0-1) on Tuesday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
Caroline Nozzolillo recorded a hat trick, the freshman has scored in five-straight games. Tessie Batchelder found the back of the net twice, she has scored in four-straight games and has 10 goals during this stretch.
Ruby Sliwkowski scored one goal to go along with two assists and two caused turnovers, Kayla Davi, Annie Dignazio, Mackenzie Farley, and Riley Peterson also found the back of the net in the win. Dignazio added a team-high five draw controls along with two ground balls. Kathleen Denvir chipped in with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
After the Terriers opened the scoring, the Bears tied the game on a goal from Peterson. Following Peterson's goal, the Terriers ended the frame on a 2-0 run to take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter.
Brown responded by outscoring Boston University 3-0 in the second quarter behind two goals from Nozzolillo and one from Farley, Both of Nozzolillo's goals were on free position opportunities. The Bears took a 4-3 lead into halftime.
Nozzolillo completed her hat trick with her third free position goal early in the third quarter before Davi extended Brown's lead to 6-3 heading into the final 15 minutes. Four out of Brown's six goals through the first three quarters came on free position opportunities. The Bears also shut out the Terriers in the third quarter.
Brown kept its foot on the gas to open the fourth as it opened the frame on a 3-0 run on goals from Sliwkowski, Dignazio, and Batchelder to extend its advantage to 9-3. After holding the Terriers scoreless for 37:36 of game action, they mounted a 3-0 run before Batchelder ended the run with her second goal of the frame, giving the Bears a 10-6 lead.
After Batchelder's second goal, the Terriers added two more goals to cut the Bears' lead to 10-8, but it wasn't enough as Brown held on for its second-straight win.
Brown will return to action on Tuesday, Mar. 17 when it welcomes Bryant, the opening draw control is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Fans can purchase tickets here.
