Women’s Lacrosse Celebrates Home Opener with 15-5 Win Over Holy Cross

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's lacrosse team (1-1) celebrated its 2026 home opener with a 15-5 win over Holy Cross (1-3) on Thursday evening at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Ruby Sliwkowski netted four goals for the second-straight game to open the season while Adele Atherton recorded a hat trick. Annie Dignazio and Kiki Tormey each found the back of the net twice while Tormey, Caroline Nozzolillo, and Tessie Batchelder each had two assists.
In her second collegiate start, Mackenzie Conway made six saves to go along with a game-high four ground balls. Riley Peterson had four draw controls while Kathleen Denvir, Goldie Aronson, and Batchelder each had two caused turnovers.
Brown got off to a quick start on two goals from Sliwkowski and Peterson before Holy Cross cut its lead in half with a goal. Following the goal from the Crusaders, the Bears closed the opening frame on 3-0 run on goals from Tormey, Sliwkowski, and Kayla Davi. Davi's first career goal gave Brown a 5-2 lead heading into the second quarter.
The Bears kept their foot on the gas in the second, outscoring the Crusaders 4-1 behind goals from Sliwkowski, Atherton, Dignazio, and Nozzolillo. It was the first career goal for Dignazio and Nozzolillo as Brown took a 9-3 advantage into the second half.
Atherton and Tormey each added one goal in the third while Holy Cross found the back of the net once, giving Brown an 11-4 advantage entering the final 15 minutes.
The Bears outscored the Crusaders 4-1 in the fourth behind goals from Digazio, Codi Johnson, Atherton, and Sliwkowski. Brown allowed just two goals in the second half.
Brown will travel to Jacksonville on Friday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. before heading to South Florida on Sunday, Mar. 1 at 12 p.m.
