LANCASTER, Pa. - Brown Wrestling picked up multiple wins at the David H. Lehman '68 Franklin & Marshall Open on Friday. Eli Carr (149) put together a strong performance by winning a team best four matches on the day. Carr flashed his potential early, earning a 15-0 tech fall win in 5:00 over Cael Raines (Bloomsburg).Â
"Not much to celebrate because we came away with no place finishers, but the tournament provided valuable mat time, especially for our younger guys,"Â Marvin Wilenzik '56 Head Coaching Chair for Brown Wrestling Jordan Leen said. "Preston Marchesseault showed great promise in his first collegiate tournament, finishing the day 3-2. Eli Carr had the best showing of his young career, battling through six matches and pushing all the way to the placement round."Â
The aforementioned Marchesseault scored a 10-2 major decision against Cael Black (Lock Haven) and a pinfall victory over No. 22 ranked Lehigh's Keegan Gagnon in 1:05.Â
Dominic Frontino (157) followed up his showing at last weekend's Southern Scuffle with a 2-2 record on the day, earning a 21-9 major decision against Ivy League foe Cody Tavoso (Princeton) and a pinfall victory in 4:22 against Steven Villabolos (Bellarmine).Â
Riley McPherson (285), a freshman heavyweight from Brecksville, Ohio, picked up two wins on the afternoon by scoring a 12-1 major decision against Herbert Billups (George Mason) and a 9-5 decision over Brody Kline (Franklin & Marshall).
Other notable matches include Kai Tengco (141) winning via pinfall in 4:36 against Anthony Samuels (Sacred Heart) and Drew Clearie (174) earning a 14-4 major decision over Jack Weldon (Millersville).Â
