Wrestling Holds Team Awards Banquet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown Wrestling held its yearly awards banquet this past weekend at the Brown Faculty Club, honoring several members of the 2025-26 team.Â
Andrew Reall (197) was presented with the Michael T. Wallace award, which is handed out to the team MVP. Reall became the first Ivy League conference champion in program history, as well as tying the program record for wins in a season with 37. In addition, Reall qualified for the NCAA Tournament, posting a 3-2 record in Cleveland.Â
Alex Semenenko (285) won the Most Improved award after a season that saw the heavyweight finish in second place at the Ivy Tournament and qualify for the NCAA Tournament as a 25 seed.
The Ralph Anderton-Edwrad Durgin Award, given to the wrestler who performed the best under pressure, was presented to Austin McBurney (149), who went 23-15 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament after a third-place finish at the Ivy League Tournament.Â
The Artemis Joukowsky Award, which is handed out to the most promising freshman, was given to Max Norman (165). Norman had a fantastic freshman campaign for the Bears, posting a 22-15 overall record and earning four ranked victories throughout the season.
The Don Van Heest Award, presented to the wrestler who came back from adversity, was given to Drew Clearie (174), who won 16 matches for Bruno this season and provided the Bears with crucial senior leadership as one of the team captains.Â
The Rod Davidson Most Dedicated Wrestler Award was presented to Abe Pomeroy (149), who won four matches during his freshman season with the Bears.Â
The Marvin Wilenzik Award, presented to the wrestler who gave the most back to Brown, was given to Chase Yasutake (125) and Douglas Shipers (133), who both stepped in early in the season to fill spots in Brown's lineup due to injuries.Â
