Women's Hockey Shuts Out RPI, 4-0
1/31/2026 6:43:00 PM | Women's Ice Hockey
TROY, N.Y. – Brown women's hockey (14-10-2, 10-6-2) swept its road weekend with a 4-0 shutout of RPI (6-24-0, 3-15-0 ECAC) on Saturday (Jan. 31) inside Houston Field House.
Jade Iginla led Brown with two goals, while Ella Muralt scored her first goal of the season and India McDadi closed out the game with an empty netter. Iginla added an assist for a three-point game and Monique Lyons and Muralt each had two points.
Rory Edwards picked up her third shutout of the season, and sixth of her career, with 15 saves. Edwards was not challenged in the first two periods, having to make three saves in each period, before making nine saves in the final 20 minutes
"The team started the game really well, carrying play and capitalizing early," said head coach Melanie Ruzzi. "I would have liked to see us continue to press but special teams sort of broke some of the flow of the game. We need to find a way to keep the pace high through those stretches. In the end, a huge six points for the team on the road.
Brown scored in the first period for the first time since the Colgate game on Jan. 17 and just the second time in 2026. Iginla got the first goal on the board five minutes into the game. Monique Lyons sent a pass in front of the net that deflected off Iginla's skate and past Reese Keating (36 saves) to make it 1-0.
The second goal came at 14 minutes in the first period with the Bears on the power play. Brown controlled possession in the RPI zone and cycled the puck to Iginla at the blue line. Iginla fired from straight-on and a deflection off an Engineer defender beat Keating.
After a scoreless second period, Brown extended its lead late in the third. With RPI on the power play, the Bears stole the puck at the blue line and had a two-on-one shorthanded break. Lyons sent the puck on net and the rebound went straight to Muralt right in front of the net, who stuffed home the rebound.
Iginla just missed a hat trick, clanging an empty net shot off the post but the Bears would add an empty netter shortly after. The puck was sent down-ice by Margot Norehad but went just wide of RPI's goal. McDadi was out in front of the defense and tapped the puck home for the final tally.
