
Women's Water Polo Splits the Second Day of Bruno Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's water polo team split two games on the final day of Bruno Classic with a win over Villanova and a loss to No. 7 Indiana on Saturday (Jan. 24).
Indiana - L 12-9
Brown battled in a close loss to No. 7 Indiana, tying the game at 5-5 during the first half of the game. Ava Schoening and Samantha Kim both scored two goals. Gaby Montalvo, Sofia Holman, Aubrie Anderson, Sofia Flierl, and Cleo Washer, all scored a goal for the Bears. The team fought hard until the end, coming up just short in the final quarter.
In goal, Sara Decker blocked seven shots from the Hoosiers, keeping the game close until the end.
Villanova - W, 14-5
The Bears closed out the day with a 14-5 win over Villanova. Washer, Anderson, Schoening, Holman and Alexandra Love all scored two goals for Brown.
Decker finished with 12 saves in goal for Brown.
Brown jumped ahead early with a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and the Bears led 6-3 at the half. With three goals in the third, Brown pulled ahead and the Bears outscored Villanova 5-2 in the final quarter.
