
Women's Water Polo Splits Day One of Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. - Brown women's water polo (4-2) split day one of the Princeton Invite on Saturday (Jan. 31) DeNunzio Pool. The Bears started the day with a win over Mount St. Mary's and closed out the day falling to No. 22 Marist.Â
MOUNT ST. MARY - W, 15-5
The Bears began the day with a strong win over Mount St. Mary's, scoring early and leading the game 8-3 at the half. Ava Schoening led the Bears with four goals, with Aubrie Anderson, Ella Palmer, and Megan Newby all scoring two goals to keep the team ahead.Â
Sarah Decker and Somto Okafo split time in net for the Bears with each goalie making five saves.Â
NO. 22 MARIST - L, 10-13
Brown fell to No. 22 Marist to close out play on Saturday. Sofia Flierl and Alexandra Love led Brown with three goals each. Ella Palmer, Gaby Montalvo, Aubrie Anderson and Megan Newby each scored a goal.Â
Sarah Decker made seven saves in net for Brown.
The Bears trailed 4-2 after the first quarter and were down 5-3 at the break. Both teams scored four goals in the third quarter but the Red Foxes outscored Brown 4-3 in the final eight minutes for the final score.

Brown will close out the Princeton Invite with a contest against Siena on Sunday (Feb. 1) at 2 p.m.
