Gymnastics Takes Third at Bridgeport Alumni Meet

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Brown gymnastics team took home third place on Saturday evening at the Bridgeport Alumni Quad Meet. Brown scored 192.375 points, trailing behind Bridgeport (194.150) and LIU (194.000), while finishing ahead of Springfield (189.875).
Senior Sophia Dewar led the way for the Bears by winning on floor, finishing second on vault and tying for second on bars. Junior Lindsay Van Eyk took first place on beam.
Starting off on bars, Brown scored 47.350 points with Dewar leading the team in second place overall at 9.750. Next on beam, Van Eyk took home first place with her score of 9.850, and senior Liza Marcus finished third with a 9.800 as Brown totaled 47.875.
On floor, Dewar continued her strong meet with a victory at 9.850, while sophomore Daisy Fallon tied for ninth by tying her career-high of 9.750. As a team, the Bears scored 48.600 on floor.
Rounding out the meet on vault, Brown posted a 48.550 and took three of the top five spots in the event with Dewar tying for second place (9.775), followed by freshman Lulu Ton-That and senior Umi El Mammann tying for fourth, each posting a 9.750.
Brown will return home next Sunday for the Rumble & Tumble, a side-by-side gymnastics and wrestling meet. Gymnastics will welcome Southern Connecticut State while wrestling will host Princeton. Start time is set for 2 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Tickets are available at BrownBears.com/tickets.
