Men’s Soccer Hosts Dartmouth in Ivy Opener on Saturday Night

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will welcome the Dartmouth Big Green to Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday night, as they begin Ivy League play. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

- The Bears battled to a 1-1 draw with city-rival Providence College on Tuesday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Max Pfaffman made his third-straight start of the season. Pfaffman rounds out his three games with .67 goals against average, and eight saves for a .800 save percentage.
- Junior forward Lorenzo Amaral scored Brown's goal, making it his second-straight game scoring.
- His goal came in the 39th minute after Timi Browne set him up with a perfect pass in front of the box. Amaral cut back, before sending the ball past Providence's Ryan Carney.
- Amaral has now tallied eight points (2G, 4A) across seven games.
- After a four-point game against the UMass Lowell River Hawks last week, Amaral was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
- Amaral also leads the Ivy League in shots (3.57/g). He ranks second in shots on goal (1.43/g) and assists (.571/g).
- Amaral and senior midfielder Mads Stistrup Petersen hold fifth and sixth place in the Ivy League in points respectively.
- Stistrup Petersen also ranks seventh in the conference in shots on goal (.86/g).
- Brown is currently out shooting their opponents 73-70, and outsourcing their opponents 11-9. They have a .151 shot percentage compared to opponents' .129.
- The Bears are the third-highest ranked Ivy League team in the NCAA Men's Soccer RPI, with only Princeton and Harvard ahead of them.
- Brown enters Saturday's contest with a clean slate in the Ivy League, looking to earn their first conference win of the season.
- The Bears will play one final non-conference game on Oct. 14 when they host currently ranked No. 14 Bryant.
- The Big Green return All-Ivy honorees Vasilis Moiras, Trenton Blake and Eidur Baldvinsson. Moiras and Blake were also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Northeast Region Team.
- Prior to the start of the 2025 season, Moiras was named to the Hermann Trophy Watch list.
- On Sept. 15, Baldvinsson was named Ivy League Player of the week. He netted a pair of goals against the then-ranked No. 13 defending National Champions Vermont, to help Dartmouth to a 3-3 draw.
- The Big Green most recently traveled to Durham, N.H. to take on rival University of New Hampshire, where they suffered a 2-1 loss to the Wildcats.
- Their lone win of the season came against the Northeastern Huskies on Sept. 17. The Big Green won with a final score of 3-2.
- Olly Spicer currently leads the Ivy League in points with an average of 1.50 per game.
- Baldvinsson and Spicer lead Dartmouth with six points apiece. Baldvinsson has posted three goals this season, while Spicer has scored two goals and assisted twice.
- Dartmouth has a higher shot (.205) and shot on goal percentage (.500) compared to opponents, but are still getting out shot and out scored by their opponents.
- Baldvinsson ranks second in the Ivy League in goals with a .500 average per game. Spicer is close behind in sixth place, also with a .500 average per game.
- Dartmouth ranks the sixth-highest in the Ivy League in the NCAA Men's Soccer RPI.
- The history between both teams dates back to 1928, with Brown having a 40-40-5 record in the series.
- In their last 10 meetings, the Bears have a 3-7 record against the Big Green.
- Brown last beat Dartmouth in 2023, when they hosted them in October.
