
Men’s Soccer Set to Host City-Rival Providence on Tuesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will host city-rival Providence College on Tuesday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Scouting the Bears (4-2-0)
- The Bears defeated the Rhode Island Rams 1-0, and UMass Lowell River Hawks 5-1 in their last two outings.
- First-year Mateo Pereyra scored his first collegiate and game-winning goal at URI on Sept. 16, earning the Bears their third win of the season.
- Lorenzo Amaral had a four-point game (1G, 2A) against UMass Lowell earning him Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22.
- Amaral scored his first goal of the season, and first of the contest in Brown's 5-1 win over UMass Lowell.
- Amaral shot the ball from outside of the box, netting the goal in just the sixth minute.
- He leads the Ivy League in shots (3.50/g) and shots on goal (1.33/g). Amaral ranks second in the conference in assists (.667/g).
- Junior forward Carlo Brown also scored his first goal of the season against the River Hawks. Amaral sent a backwards pass to Mads Stistrup Petersen, who sent it off to Brown for the score.
- Senior forward Jamin Gogo Peters cashed in on an opportunity from Amaral, extending the Bears' lead at the time.
- Junior forward Diego Elizalde capped off the scoring in the 86th minute earning the fourth goal of the night for Brown.
- Goalkeeper Max Pfaffman made his first pair of starts last week against URI and UMass Lowell. Pfaffman rounds out the two contests with a .50 goals against average and .800 save percentage.
Scouting the Friars (2-5-0)
- The Friars return All-Big East honorees Bruno Rosa and Diego Batista. The pair were also named to the 2025 All-Big East Preseason Team earlier this year.
- Providence lost 2-0 to Seton Hall in their last outing in their Big East Conference opener on Friday.
- The Friars' two wins this season came against Boston College (2-0) and URI (3-1).
- Aside from Seton Hall, they have suffered losses to Rutgers, New Haven, Harvard, and Bryant.
- Ian Abbey leads the team with one goal and one assist for three points. Five additional players have recorded one goal.
- Goalkeeper Ryan Carney has been the Friars' mainstay between the pipes this season. He has a 1.29 goals against average, making 24 saves while allowing nine goals.
- Providence is out shooting their opponents 98-64, but are getting outscored 9-6.
- History
- Both teams met last season with the Friars claiming the 2-1 win.
- Brown most recently defeated Providence in 2022, when they won 1-0.
- In their last 10 meetings the Bears have a 3-6-1 record against the Friars.
