Men’s Soccer Set to Host UMass Lowell on Saturday Night

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will welcome UMass Lowell to Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (3-2-0)
- The Bears earned their third win of the season with a 1-0 victory at URI on Tuesday night.
- In the 80th minute, First-year forward Mateo Pereyra scored his first collegiate and game-winning goal against the Rams.
- Senior midfielder Mads Stistrup Petersen fed the ball to Pereyra who took the ball into the box before sending it past Rams' goalkeeper Caleb McNeil.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Max Pfaffman made his first start of the season against URI, earning his first shutout.
- Pfaffman closed out the match facing six shots, while making two saves.
- Brown collected their other wins at the start of the season against Holy Cross (2-1), and at Fairfield (1-0).
- Sophomore Timi Browne scored his first collegiate goal against UConn on Sept. 10.
- Junior forward Lorenzo Amaral sent a perfectly placed pass to Browne, who then headed it past the Huskies' goalkeeper putting the Bears on the board.
- Stistrup Petersen continues to lead Brown and the Ivy League in multiple statistical categories.
- He leads the teams in goals (3) and points (7).
- Stistrup Petersen ranks second in the conference in goals (.600/g) and shots on goal (1.20/g).
- He also holds fourth in points in the Ivy League (1.40/g).
- Amaral also leads the conference in shots (3.80/g) and shots on goal (1.40/g).
- The Bears enter Saturday's contest looking for their fourth win of the season.
- The River Hawks return America East All-Rookie selection Matteo Costa.
- UMass Lowell opened their 2025 campaign with a 2-1 win over Saint Peter's.
- They also earned wins over Houston Christian (1-0), Holy Cross (2-1), and Merrimack (1-0).
- The River Hawks' two losses came against LIU on Aug. 24, and UMass Amherst on Sept. 10.
- Linus Musielak and Justin Pham lead UMass Lowell with two goals apiece. Henry Wohlt, Iñaki Esnaola, and Oliver Holstrom have all notched one goal.
- Pham also leads the team in scoring with six points (2G, 2A).
- The River Hawks have played two different goalkeepers this season: Jorge Ortega and Alvaro Medrano.
- The pair has allowed only six goals this season, posting a .833 save percentage.
- UMass Lowell currently sits in the middle of the America East rankings in fourth out of eight teams. Bryant, Vermont, and UMBC precede the River Hawks respectively.
- The River Hawks rank second in the America East in saves, third in shots and assists, and fifth in points.
- The Bears have a 4-1 record over the River Hawks in their last five meetings.
- Brown looks to extend their four match winning streak over UMass Lowell.
- The River Hawks last beat the Bears in 2016, 2-1.
