PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer senior defender Naya Cardoza was named to TopDrawerSoccer's National Team of the Week. Her three goals last week contributed to the selection.
Cardoza helped the Bears earn a 1-1 draw against Hofstra with a header from the top of the 18-yard box in the 87th minute. She followed it up with a stellar performance in a 4-0 win over Central Connecticut State. In that game, she scored twice on redirections, tying the Ivy League lead with four goals this season.
In addition to her scoring, Cardoza was a strong presence on the defensive side of the field, executing crucial slide tackles to deny opposing scoring chances. She was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
