Men’s Soccer Set to Visit Rhode Island on Tuesday Night

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will head to Kingston, R.I. to take on in-state rival Rhode Island on Tuesday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (2-2-0)
- The Bears opened up their 2025 with a 2-0 record, earning wins against Holy Cross and Fairfield.
- Brown posted a 2-1 win over the Crusaders in their season opener on Aug. 29.
- The Bears won their first road game 1-0 at Fairfield on Sept. 1.
- Brown then dropped their next two games at Boston University, and against UConn.
- The Bears dropped their match 3-1 to the Terriers on Sept. 5.
- Five days later, Brown faced a hard-fought 3-1 loss to the Huskies who were receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.
- Sophomore Timi Browne scored his first collegiate goals against UConn on Sept. 10. Lorenzo Amaral sent a perfectly placed pass to Browne, who then headed it past the Huskies' goalkeeper.
- Midfielder Mads Stistrup Petersen has scored three of Brown's five goals so far this season.
- Stistrup Petersen leads the Ivy League in goals with a .750 average per game.
- He is also third in the conference in shots on goal (1.25/g) and points (1.50/g).
- Due to his stellar performance this season, Stistrup Petersen was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8.
- Goalkeeper Henrik Weiper has started in all four games for Brown this season. Weiper has clocked 360 minutes of playing time facing 49 shots, with a 1.75 goals against average.
- Seven Bears have recorded at least one point across four games this season.
- Marshall Treese, Greyson Mitchell, and Mathias Hille have all recorded one point, with Amaral recording two points on assists.
- Jamin Gogo Peters and Browne have two points, with Stistrup Petersen notching six points from goals.
- The Bears enter Tuesday's game looking to bounce back, and earn their third win of the season.
- The Rams were selected ninth of 13 teams in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll after finishing in 12th last season with a 7-7-3 record.
- URI opened their season on Aug. 21 against Iona, with both teams playing to a 2-2 draw.
- Daniel Goba scored the Rams' first goal of the season in the 63rd minute.
- Parker Vasic scored with 10 minutes remaining to tie things up.
- Following their draw, Rhody dropped their following three games to Bryant (2-1), Providence (3-1), and UAlbany (3-0).
- Theo Harris and Goba each netted a goal against Bryant and PC respectively.
- The Rams' first win of the season came at St. John's on Sept. 8, with a final score of 2-1.
- Kyler Vojvodic got Rhody on the board in the 18th minute, with St. John's responding just four minutes later.
- Tiago Barriguinha rounded out the Rams' scoring in the 40th minute, giving them the edge over the Red Storm.
- URI most recently played to a 1-1 draw vs. Fordham on Saturday.
- Both of Rhody's goalkeepers have seen action this season. The pair combine for 2.00 goals against average, 25 saves, and .676 save percentage.
- The Bears and Rams most recently met in 2024, when Brown beat URI 2-1.
- In their last 10 meetings, the Bears hold a 6-2-2 record over the Rams.
- Brown has shut the Rams out in four out of their 10 most recent meetings.
