
Field Hockey Set to Host Fairfield for Home Opener on Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown field hockey team (0-2) will welcome Fairfield (2-2) for its home opener on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. at Goldberger Family Field.
Sunday's home opener will be the Bears' Mental Health Awareness Game.
Opening Weekend Recap
In Brown's season opener at No. 14 UMass (Sept. 5), the Bears and Minutewomen battled into a penalty shootout as UMass came away with the win.
In her collegiate debut, Ellie Parker shined with nine saves, including two in the fourth quarter and two in the second overtime frame. Mia Karine Myklebust and Kiersten Smith scored for Brown in the season opener.
Brown fell 3-2 to then-No. 11 UConn in its second game of the opening weekend (Sept. 7). Lucy Adams and Kate Siedem found the back of the net for the Bears.
Brown out-cornered and out-shot both nationally ranked opponents in its first two games of the season.
Scouting Brown (0-2)
Brown has a five-game winning streak at Goldberger Family Field dating back to last season. The Bears had four different goal scorers in the first two games of the season, Ellie Parker has 11 saves in two starts and is sporting a .688 save percentage.
Brown scored three out of its four goals last weekend from penalty corner opportunities. Last season, Brown ranked No. 1 in the country in attacking penalty corner opportunities. As a team, the Bears have 17 penalty corner opportunities this season while holding its opponents to nine.
Scouting Fairfield (2-2)
Fairfield opened its season 0-2 and have since rattled off two-straight wins. Both of Fairfield's wins came at home as they defeated Villanova (Sept. 5) and Lehigh (Sept. 7). The Stags are 0-2 on the road. Prior to its game against Brown, Fairfield will travel to Ivy League member Columbia on Friday.
The Stags have scored 10 goals in their last two games and are averaging 3.0 goals per game.
History
Brown is 12-4 all-time against Fairfield, the last match up between the Bears and Stags came in 2013. Brown is 7-1 against Fairfield at home.
What's Next
Brown will begin Ivy League action when they welcome Yale (Sept. 20) before hosting Stonehill (Sept. 21), both games will be at 1 p.m. at Goldberger Family Field.
