Men’s Soccer Travels to Fairfield for Monday Night Matchup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will travel to Fairfield for their first road game of the season on Monday. The Bears will make their way to Lessing Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Stags.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Scouting the Bears (1-0-0)
- The Bears were selected to finish fourth in the Ivy League Preseason poll, with Penn, Princeton, and Cornell ahead of them.
- Brown returns 17 players, including two All-Ivy honorees: Lorenzo Amaral and Mads Stistrup Petersen. The team also added 10 newcomers to the squad in the offseason.
- The Bears opened up their 2025 campaign with a 2-1 win over Holy Cross on Friday night.
- Mads Stistrup Petersen earned the first goal of the season in just the fourth minute of Friday's game.
- Stistrup Petersen's goal was the result of a throw-in by Greyson Mitchell with a bounce off of Mathias Hille, before being headed into the goal by Stistrup Petersen.
- The Bears out shot the Crusaders 7-4 in the first half, but were unable to capitalize on any other opportunities in the half.
- Jamin Gogo Peters scored what would prove to be the game winning goal in the 86th minute of regulation, securing Brown's first win of the season.
- Gogo Peters' goal came from a long pass from Marshall Treese, keeping the ball in bounds. Gogo Peters headed the ball, which bounced by the Crusaders' goalkeeper, Mateo Buyu.
- Marshall Treese earned his first collegiate point with his assist on Jamin Gogo Peters' goal.
- Holy Cross out shot Brown in the second half 12-2, but were unable to get anything past goalkeeper Henrik Weiper. Weiper made two saves, keeping the Bears on top of the match.
- Four players collected points in Friday's win: Jamin Gogo Peters (2), Mads Stistrup Petersen (2), Greyson Mitchell (1), and Marshall Treese (1).
- The Bears enter Monday night's matchup with a clean 1-0-0 record.
Scouting the Stags (2-0-0)
- The Stags were selected to finish eighth in their preseason poll. They return All-MAAC honoree William Pierce.
- Fairfield opened their season on Thursday, Aug. 21 when they took on Army West Point, winning 2-1.
- Alex Vaz netted Fairfield's first goal of the season on a free kick in just the 11th minute of the game. Sean Albritton scored the second goal in the 51st minute of the game, which was just enough to give the Stags their first win of the season.
- Competition remained tight until the end, with Army West Point having an edge of 14 shots to Fairfield's 13.
- The Stags landed four shots on target to the Black Knights' three.
- Fairfield hosted Monmouth in their home opener on Monday, Aug. 25, shutting the Hawks out 3-0.
- Sean Albritton netted his second goal of the season in the 17th minute of the game against Monmouth. Alex Vaz also posted his second goal of the season with just 16 seconds remaining in the first half.
- William Pierce topped off scoring for the Stags with the third and final goal of the night.
- Monmouth out shot Fairfield 17-10, but were unable to capitalize on any opportunities.
- Fairfield enters Monday night's game with a clean 2-0-0 record.
History
- The Bears hold a 1-1-2 record in their last four meetings with the Stags.
- In 2011, Brown defeated Fairfield 3-2 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- In 2012 and 2014, both teams played to a 0-0 draw in double overtime.
- Fairfield beat Brown 6-0 in their most recent meeting in 2023.
