
Men’s Soccer Welcomes Holy Cross in Season Opener on Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will open the 2025 season at home on Friday, Aug. 29 when they host Holy Cross. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Brown Athletics has updated multiple facility and ticketing policies which can be found below.
Re-Entry Policy: Fans attending Brown men's soccer games will now be able to re-enter the venue with a valid scan of their ticket.
Bag Policy: There is no longer a clear bag requirement, or restrictions on bag size. All bags will be checked before fans can enter Stevenson-Pincince Field for a soccer game.
Student Admission: Admission will be granted by scanning a valid Brown ID. Purchasing a ticket in advance is not required.
Scouting the Bears
- Friends of Brown Men's Soccer Head Coaching Chair Chase Wileman returns for his fourth season with the program.
- All-Ivy honorees Lorenzo Amaral (First Team) and Mads Stistrup Petersen (Second Team) make their return to College Hill.
- The Bears look to build upon last year's numbers after closing out the 2024 season with an 8-8-1 record, going 3-4-0 in conference play.
- Brown wrapped up last season ranked within the top 10 in multiple statistical categories: Amaral ranked second in the Ivy League in points, and fourth in goals. Stistrup Petersen ranked seventh in the conference in assists. Goalkeeper Henrik Weiper had the fourth-lowest goals against average in the Ivy League, and ranked third in saves.
- Ahead of the 2025 season, Amaral was named to the United Soccer Coaches Division I Men's Forwards to Watch List.
Scouting the Crusaders (0-1-1)
- Head Coach Matt Brown returns to Holy Cross for his second season with the program.
- Holy Cross returns 13 players, including All-Patriot League honoree Julian Beban.
- The Crusaders closed out the 2024 season with a 4-9-5 record, finishing 3-3-3 in the Patriot League.
- Holy Cross opened their season with a 1-1 draw last Thursday at Northeastern. Archie Hatcher scored the lone goal for the Crusaders in the 16th minute.
- The Crusaders dropped their second game of the season 1-0 to Merrimack.
- Holy Cross out shot Merrimack 10-8, with goalkeeper Mateo Buyu making five saves for the Crusaders.
History
- The Bears have an 8-1 record against the Crusaders in their last nine meetings, dating back to 2010. The team has a 4-1 record at home, and 4-0 on the road.
- Brown went on a six game winning streak over Holy Cross from 2010-11 and 2015-2018.
- The Bears lost 1-0 in overtime to the Crusaders in 2019 before winning two more games in 2021 and 2024.
- Four of the last nine matchups between Brown and Holy Cross have gone into overtime, with the Bears coming out on top 75% of the time.
