Gottam Dominates on the Mound, Leads Baseball to Win over Penn
5/2/2025 6:04:00 PM | Baseball
Gottam struck out a season-high 11 batters, one shy of his career-high, and threw a career-high 120 pitches in his first-career complete game effort. He also induced three ground ball double plays. Fellow senior Jared Johnson had two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI to lead the offense. Junior Logan Meusy added two RBIs, and junior Mark Henshon went 1-for 3 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games and his on-base streak to 21 games.
Gottam also moved his career total for innings pitched to 227.2, good for sixth all-time in program history. On the other side, Penn's Noah Milliken also went the distance, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts over 8.0 innings.
Gottam faced the minimum through two innings, aided by a pair of double plays. Penn got the first hit for either side with two outs in the third when Ryan Taylor drove a pitch off the inside corner out to left field for his third homer of the season to spot the Quakers a 1-0 lead.

Brown quickly tied it in the bottom of the inning as Johnson shot a double the other way down the left field line, went to third on a balk and scored on a ground ball by Christian Butera.
From there, Gottam was in full control, retiring nine batters in a row at one point from the third through sixth innings. Outside of the home run, the Quakers only got one runner to second base the entire afternoon, which came with one out in the eighth inning.
The Bears broke through for two hits in the fifth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Brandon Chang led off with a single through the left side, went to third on a beautifully executed hit-and-run by Butera, then scored on a safety squeeze by Mesuy.
