Reid and Nelson Honored with Ivy League Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the third consecutive week, Brown baseball has earned a weekly award from the Ivy League. Senior pitcher Dylan Reid has been selected as the league's Pitcher of the Week, and freshman pitcher Drew Nelson has been tabbed as the Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Both pitchers dominated the final two games of the Bears' weekend series at Yale, helping Brown take two out of three and secure its first season series win over the Bulldogs since 2016, and open Ivy play with a series win for the first time since 2018.
Reid delivered the best start of his collegiate career in Sunday's 8-0 win at Yale. He dominated over 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits and three walks with eight strikeouts, all against a Yale team that entered the weekend leading the Ivy League with a .276 batting average. He did not allow a hit until the fifth inning, and no Yale runner advanced past second base against him.
He threw 72 of his 103 pitches for strikes and had the out-pitch throughout, inducing a double play to end the fifth, picking off a runner to end the sixth inning, and got a big strikeout after an error to end the seventh.
The performance came in just his third start of the season after missing the entire 2024 and 2025 seasons due to injury.
Nelson picked up his second win of the season while delivering the best start of his freshman campaign in game two of Saturday's doubleheader, silencing Yale's offense over 7.0 innings in the Bears' 2-1 win. He allowed just one earned run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Brown has now won four weekly awards over the last three weeks, joining Camren Piwnicki's Rookie of the Week (March 16) and Peter Dubie's Pitcher of the Week (March 9).
Brown will return to action tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon, March 24 with a non-league matchup against Stonehill. First pitch from Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium is set for 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
