PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball's Laurel Moody and Alexis Guevara were named to the NFCA All-Region Northeast Region Team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday (May 15). This marks the first time since 2022 that a Brown player was named to the Northeast Region Team and the first time since 2012 that two Bears earned All-Region honors.
Moody was selected First Team All-Region as a catcher after being selected Ivy League Player of the Year and First Team All-Ivy. Moody won the Ivy League triple crown at the plate and leads Brown in batting average (.436), hits (61), runs scored (34), home runs (15), RBI (42), total bases (116), walks (31), on base percentage (.534) and slugging percentage (.829). The senior catcher has only struck out 10 times in 140 at bats. Moody is the first Bear since Stephanie Thompson in 2012 to be selected First Team All-Region.
Guevara was named First Team All-Ivy and was named Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading Brown to an Ivy League Tournament title, going 3-0 with an 0.67 ERA while striking out 12 batters and not issuing a walk during the three games of the tournament. Guevara leads Brown and the Ivy League with a 1.75 ERA and 161 strikeouts. Her 20 wins are the second-most by a pitcher in Brown program history. Guevara is the first Bear to be named Second Team All-Region since Yeram Park earned the honor in 2016.
Moody, Guevara, and the rest of the Bears are set to begin play in the Lubbock Regional of the NCAA Tournament on Friday (May 16) against No. 12 seed Texas Tech at 5:30 p.m. ET.
