Baseball Drops Final Game of Series with Yale
4/6/2025 6:01:00 PM | Baseball
Senior Gunner Boree had two hits and drove in three of the Brown's runs. Sophomore Brandon Chang added an RBI double. All seven of Yale's runs and five of their six hits all came in the third and seventh innings.
Brown freshman starter Luke Trout went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits with four strikeouts. Yale starter Daniel Cohen went 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Bears wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first with Boree jumping on the third pitch he saw and lining deep to left for his fifth home run of the season. In the second, Mark Henshon drew a one-out walk and scored on a double into the left field corner by Chang to push the lead to 2-0.
THAT!...that is how you start the game!

Trout retired the first six batters he faced before running into trouble in the third as Yale scored four runs on three hits, including an RBI double, two-run triple, and run-scoring error to take a 4-2 lead.
Trout settled in and faced the minimum from the fourth through sixth innings to conclude his outing, a spurt that included a double play, caught stealing, and a great over-the-shoulder running catch by Boree in shallow center field.
Despite several hard line drives and loud outs to the warning track, Cohen retired 12 Brown batters in a row and did not allow another hit for the remainder of his six-inning outing.
Yale picked up some insurance with a three-run bases clearing double against the Brown bullpen in the seventh to extend the lead to 7-2.
Chang reached on a hit by pitch in the seventh inning to break up a string of 13 Brown hitters in a row that had been retired. Boree got Brown within three as he lined a bases loaded two-run single to left field to pull the Bears within three, 7-4.
Two more RBIs for Boree! He's now up to three on the day as the Bears are not going quietly here in the 7th...trimming the deficit to three.
