PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown third ranked Brown women's sailing team, and No. 9 ranked open team have been selected to compete in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's and Open Team Race National Championships.
A five-person committee is tasked with selecting the most competitive field of At-Large Teams to compete for both National Championships. The committees are made up of five voting members and one non-voting ICSA competition committee member. Automatic qualifications are awarded to conference champions and their runners-up, while the remaining berths are selected through a structured process by the committee.
The Bears earned At-Large selections to compete in both Open and Women's Team Race National Championships based on their strong spring seasons in three on three team racing.
Brown will host the Open and Women's Team Race National Championships at the Ted Turner '60 Pavilion located at the Edgewood Yacht Club in Cranston, R.I. The Open Team Race National Championship will begin on Thursday, April 24 and run through Saturday, April 26. The Women's Team Race National Championship will take place on Sunday, April 27, and Monday, April 28.
The Bears earned podium finishes in 2023 in both the Women's and Open Team Race Championships, placing third at both championships. In 2024 they finished fourth at the Open Team Race Nationals, and were awarded the Fowle Trophy for "Best Overall Team" in College Sailing based on the results of all of the College Sailing National Championships.
