HANOVER, N.H. – The Brown Bears (3-9, 0-5 Ivy League) fell to the Dartmouth Big Green (8-4, 2-3 Ivy League) in a goalie duel Saturday afternoon in Hanover. Dartmouth goalie Mason Morel finished the game with 20 saves and Connor Foley recorded 17 saves as the Big Green took a 13-9 victory.
"Hats off to Dartmouth today," said head coach Jon Torpey. "We had a really tough second quarter that really tilted the field and put us in a position to play catch up the rest of the game/ We have one more week to fix the deficiencies and grow as a group. We will do everything in our power to compete at the highest-level next Saturday for our Senior Class."
Christian Rasmussen tallied the afternoon's first goal with 12:45 remaining in the first quarter off a pass from Forrest Demetri for his second goal of the season. After a pair of Dartmouth goals, Demetri brought the Bears even with one second remaining on the clock.
The Big Green pulled away from the Bears with a six-goal run in the second quarter to take an 8-2 lead into the half. Alex Jessey recorded two of the goals to record a hat trick.
Aidan McLane added his first goal of the game early in the third quarter to end the Dartmouth run and cut into the lead.
Kurt Dillmeier poked in a loose ball in the final minute of the third quarter for his first collegiate goal. The Big Green responded in the final seconds with Emmett Paradine's second goal of the game to make it 10-4 heading to the fourth.
The Bears responded to consecutive Dartmouth goals to open the fourth with three straight, including a pair from Marcus Wertheim and McLane's second of the game.
Ben Scandone and Ryan Behrens tallied Brown's final goal of the game with 21 seconds and one remaining, respectively, to bring the final score to 13-9.
