NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Brown softball (7-3) split its doubleheader with Lipscomb (11-11) to start its weekend in Nashville. Laurel Moody had five hits on the day for Brown and Alexis Guevara threw a shutout in game one.
GAME 1: Brown 3, Lipscomb 0
The Bears got a stellar performance from Alexis Guevara in the circle and Laurel Moody delivered another bit hit as Brown took down Lipscomb 3-0 in the first game of the day.
Guevara (3-1) threw a complete game shutout, scattering two hits and two walks while striking out four batters. It's Guevara's second shutout of the season.
Brown put runners on base in the first two innings but didn't break through until the third. With two outs, Moody stepped to the plate and took one the opposite way over the wall for a solo home run. It was Moody's fourth home run off the season.
With one out in the fourth, Cameron Zytkewicz Ray and Vanessa Alexander each walked, bringing Guevara to the plate. Guevara helped herself out with a single to left to bring home Zytkewicz Ray and double Brown's lead.
It was another two out rally for the Bears in the seventh. Moody doubled to the wall in left center and Jasmine Hsiao singled home Moody to make it 3-0.
Lipscomb would get a two-out walk in the seventh but a groundout to Guevara ended the game.
GAME 2: Lipscomb 7, Brown 5

The Bisons took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
In the fifth, Brown started the inning with an infield single by Thompson and a double by Carey down the left field line. Lily Berlinger brought home Thompson on a sacrifice fly and Moody doubled to the wall in right center to score Carey and put Brown ahead 4-3.
In the bottom of the fifth, Lipscomb tied the game on a hit with two outs and an obstruction call at home plate allowed another run to score and the inning to continue. Lipscomb would plate another run to take a 6-4 lead.
