Baseball to Host Stonehill Tuesday in Home Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After 16 road games to start the season, the Brown baseball team is set to host Stonehill on Tuesday afternoon in its home opener at Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Brown leads the all-time series 2-0.
Tuesday will mark the third consecutive season the two teams will meet in Providence.
In 2023, Brown won 4-3 on a big, seventh inning three-run homer by Ryan Marra.
The Bears dominated in a 14-5 win in 2024, never trailing and putting the game away with eight runs over the final three innings.

SCOUTING BROWN (2-14, 0-3 IVY)

Brown is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of Columbia to open Ivy League play, a series in which both teams had their offenses on full display, combining for 66 runs, 80 hits and 18 home runs.
Freshman infielder Christian Butera was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after a breakout weekend where he clubbed the first four home runs of his career.
Junior outfielder Mika Petersen carries a 13-game hitting streak into the week and has reached base safely in 15 of the 16 games this season.
Junior shortstop DJ Dillehay went 6-for-14 on the weekend with three RBIs and a pair of homers, one in each game on Saturday.
Eleven of the Bears' 16 home runs this season came at Columbia.
As a team, the Bears enter the week with a 9.17 team ERA, which ranks sixth in the Ivy League.

SCOUTING STONEHILL (6-13, 5-1 NEC)

The Skyhawks are off to a 5-1 start to the season in Northeast Conference play after a three-game sweep at Norfolk State and a series win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Senior Sam Parks will carry a six-game hitting streak into the weekend following a double and RBI in Sunday's win. He is hitting .324 on the season with a team-leading 22 runs. He also leads the team with 23 walks and a .511 on-base percentage.
Sophomore Grayson Sparr leads the team with a .411 batting average and 23 RBIs, and is one of five players with at least five homers.
As a team, the Skyhawks are hitting .272 overall this season, and .309 in NEC play.
On the mound, Stonehill holds a 9.89 team ERA.

ON DECK
The Bears will hit the road once again this weekend when they head to upstate New York for a three-game series at Cornell on Saturday and Sunday.
