Softball to Host Stonehill Wednesday; Dartmouth Over Weekend to Start Ivy Play

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball returns home as the Bears for a midweek doubleheader and the beginning on Ivy League play over the weekend.
The Bears will start their week with a doubleheader against Stonehill on Wednesday (March 19) with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m. Brown will then kick off Ivy League play hosting Dartmouth on the weekend. Brown and the Big Green will play a doubleheader on Saturday (March 22) beginning at 12:30 p.m. and will play a single game at 12:30 on Sunday. All five games are set to stream on ESPN+.

THE FIRST PITCH
- Brown is 10-6 on the season after splitting a doubleheader at Sacred Heart and sweeping a doubleheader at Holy Cross over last weekend. The 10-6 start is the best start through 16 games for Brown since with 2010 season.
- Alexis Guevara was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for the second-straight week after throwing two complete game shutouts last weekend. Guevara has now allowed just one run in her last 27 innings.
- Laurel Moody had another fantastic weekend at the plate for Brown, hitting .556 with a .750 on base percentage. Moody was 5-for-9 with a double and drew six walks while only striking out once.
- Kaicee Klus made four starts over the weekend and took full advantage, hitting .455 with five hits and two runs scored.
- Amanda Deng did it all at the plate, collecting four hits, with a double, triple and her first home run, matching Cameron Zytkewicz Ray for the team-high in RBI with five over last weekend.
- Annie Finch made her first start of the season against Holy Cross and went four scoreless innings. Finch also added 1.2 innings of scoreless relief against Sacred Heart.
- Stonehill is 6-11 on the season having dropped its last three games to Saint Francis over the weekend in the Skyhawks NEC opener.
- Piper Hofmann leads the team with a .316 average. Harper Sullivan leads the team with 14 hits and 14 RBI and Isabella Therrien has the lone home run on the season.
- Lauren Donovan has a team-best 4.71 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched. Alex Sciarretto has 16 strikeouts to lead the staff but also has a team-high 23 walks.
- The Bears are 12-7 all time against Stonehill but prior to a doubleheader in 2024, the teams had not met since 1992. The two teams split the doubleheader last season with Stonehill winning 1-0 and Brown earning a 9-1 win in five innings.
- Dartmouth is 6-9 on the season and is coming off a 3-2 weekend at the ETSU Invitational with two wins over East Tennessee State and one over North Dakota.
- Justice Malone and Alaana Panu lead the team win batting with Malone at .333 and Panu hitting .319. Panu leads the team with 10 RBI on the season but the Big Green have only hit two home runs all year.
- Panu leads the Ivy League and is 18th in the NCAA in stolen bases per game and is 10-for-11 in attempts this year.
- Jensin Hall leads the pitching staff with a 1.81 ERA and a 3-3 record. Hall has thrown 46.1 innings and has 31 strikeouts to 11 walks. Five of her six starts have been complete games.
- Brown is 31-61 all time against Dartmouth but Brown did earn a win in the last matchup, 12-9. Brown is 2-8 in their last 10 games against Dartmouth.
- Laurel Moody collected her 100th career hit against Sacred Heart. She is the first Bear to collect 100-career hits since Cat Seitz earned her 100th hit in her senior year in 2019.
- Alexis Guevara became the third Bear to reach 300 career strikeouts with a four-strikeout performance against Holy Cross. Guevara is now just 33 strikeouts from moving into second-place all-time and 70 away from becoming the all-time leader in strikeouts in program history.
