Baseball Heads to Bryant for Three-Game Weekend Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team will compete in the northeast for the first time this season with a three-game weekend series against Bryant at Conaty Park in Smithfield.

The initial schedule for the weekend has been changed as the two teams will now square off in a single game on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. All three games will be streamed live at AmericaEast.tv.

The games will serve as Brown's final tune-up ahead of the start of Ivy League play next Saturday.

SCOUTING BROWN (0-10, 0-0 Ivy)

Brown will look to turn its fortunes around as the team competes closer to home this weekend after a three-game sweep at the hands of a strong Georgia Southern squad last weekend.
Freshman Jack Edmunds went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in last Sunday's 5-4 loss.
Junior outfielder Mika Petersen went 6-for-12 at the plate with a pair of RBIs over the three games. Petersen has been the team's leading hitter through the first 10 games with a .343 average and leads all qualified players in on-base percentage.
Petersen also carries a seven-game hitting streak into this weekend and has reached base safely in nine of 10 games this season.
Freshman infielder Christian Butera went 3-for-9 with a double, triple and pair of walks last weekend.
A pair of first-year pitchers had solid performances last weekend as starter Luke Trout carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning on Sunday's game. Ian Keusch tossed 4.0 innings of relief last Friday, allowing just one earned run.

SCOUTING BRYANT (6-8-1, 0-0 America East)

Bryant split a midweek series with URI and Northeastern, falling 7-1 at URI and topping the Huskies 13-3 at home on Wednesday.
Bryant has hit 14 home runs through its first 15 games of the season, led by its leading hitter, Brandyn Durand who has four homers with a .379/.419/.672 slash line and a team-leading 14 runs and 16 RBIs.
Gavin Noriega has a .293 average to go with 15 RBIs and nine runs scored.
Zac Zyons leads the Bulldogs with a .439 on-base percentage, helped by seven hit by pitches. He's also tagged three doubles and three home runs.
Bryant has won 13 of the last 14 meetings against Brown and is 20-7 all-time in the series.
