FAIRFAX, VA. - The Bears head back to Providence after completing two dual matches against American University and George Mason. Brown dropped both matches by scores of 25-13 to American and 24-18 to George Mason.
Early in the day, Ian Oswalt (141) and Thomas Sandoval (197) both secured major decision victories against Elijah White (American) and Liam Volk-Klos (American). Andrew Reall (184), who is ranked #27 overall in the nation for his weight class, also picked up a win against Breon Phifer (American).
Against George Mason later in the day, Joey Iamunno (141) and Alex Semenenko (285) both won their matches by way of pinfall against Dom Hargrove (George Mason) and James Blackman (George Mason). Semenenko picked up his ninth pinfall of the season, which keeps him in the top ten in the country in pinfalls for the 2024-25 season. Drew Clearie (174) and Hunter Adrian (133) also won their matches, defeating Logan Messer (George Mason) and Geoff Whelan (George Mason).
"We were flat off the scale in our first half against American, but we responded well in the second half and kept it going all through the George Mason match. We had another 'almost' against George Mason. Almosts don't count, and frankly we are pretty tired of them. That being said, we competed pretty tough," said Head Coach Jordan Leen after today's two matches.
