PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bears hosted the Columbia Lions on Senior Day and Alumni Day at the Pizzatola Center on Sunday. Columbia won the dual matchup by a final score of 27-17.
The program honored six seniors today: James Araneo, Harrison Trahan, Sam McMonagle, Keegan Rothrock, Hunter Adrian, and Blake Saito.
Hunter Adrian (133) was able to pick up a Senior Day victory by defeating Connor Smith (Columbia) in the second match of the day. The win moves Adrian to 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in dual competition, while also giving him his first Ivy League victory of the 2-24-25 campaign.
Alex Semenenko (285) continued what has been a dominant season by pinning Richard Ryu (Columbi) in 2:07. Semenenko picked up his 11th pinfall of the season, which keeps him firmly inside the top five in the NCAA DI for pinfalls. He moves to 17-11 on the season, 5-5 in dual competition, and 5-4 in Ivy League matches.
"Most of the toss-ups went Columbia's way today in one-exchange matches. That's a credit to them for winning the close ones. I can speak for myself and the upperclassmen at least in saying that we are tired of 'almosts' and moral victories. It's time to win. We get two more opportunities next weekend against Harvard and Sacred Heart," said Head Coach Jordan Leen after the matches on Sunday.
UP NEXT
The Bears travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to take on the Harvard Crimson in an Ivy League showdown on Friday, February 21.
