BEAM QUEENS
Brown enters this weekend ranked No. 1 on beam in the Gymnastics East Conference with an average score of 48.583 and a season-high of 48.925. Lindsey Yang (2nd/9.750), Lindsay Van Eyk (4th/9.717), Liza Marcus (t-5th/9.700) and Jessica Lin (t-5th/9.700) all rank in the top five individually in the conference.
Van Eyk has scored at least 9.650 in each of her first three meets, while Yang has posted at least a 9.725 in each meet this season.
CONFERENCE LEADERS
Brown senior Julia Bedell leads the GEC this season on vault (average of 9.800)while junior Liza Marcus (2nd/9.750) and senior Maya Davis (4th/9.733) both rank in the top four on bars.
BROWN GRABS FIRST PLACE AT HOME-OPENING TRI-MEET
Before last week's bye, Brown topped Southern Connecticut State and Springfield in their most recent meet with a score of 192.550. Liza Marcus led the way for Brown on bars and tied for second on the team on both beam and floor. Lindsay Van Eyk picked up her first career win on beam (9.775) and Lindsey Yang won on floor (9.800).
BROWN TAKES SECOND PLACE AT SCSU QUAD
The Bears took four of the top five spots on beam on Jan. 18 at SCSU while posting the No. 3 score in program history (48.925), with Jessica Lin, Emily Ford and Lindsey Yang all scoring 9.800. Brown swept the top two spots on the podium on bars with Liza Marcus (9.775) and Maya Davis (9.725) leading the way. Sophia Dewar (9.800) led the way in second place on vault, while Julia Bedell scored 9.775 to tie for third on both vault and floor.
SEASON-OPENER RECAP
Brown scored 190.300 in the January 10 season-opener against Iowa and Iowa State. The Bears have now put up at least 190 points in three consecutive season-openers, marking just the second time in program history they accomplished the feat, joining the 2013-2015 squads. Four of Brown's 11 gymnasts that competed at Iowa State were making their collegiate debuts.
