Women’s Lacrosse Moves to 3-0 With 18-2 Win at Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Brown women's lacrosse team (3-0) picked up an 18-2 win at Sacred Heart (0-3) on Sunday afternoon.
This is the second consecutive season under head coach Katrina Dowd that the Bears have opened the season 3-0, Brown has outscored its opponents 60-11 through the first three games of the season.
Brown went on the offensive early as they earned a 2-0 lead within the first 2:39 of the contest, the Bears' first two goals were scored by Greta Criqui and Adele Atherton. Atherton added one more first quarter goal as Marley Wright also found the back of the net in the first as the Bears took a 4-0 lead into the second quarter.
After Criqui scored her second goal of the game to give Brown a 5-0 lead, Sacred Heart found the net to cut the Bears' lead to 5-1. Following the goal from the Pioneers, scored the final two goals of the second quarter to take a 7-1 lead into halftime. The final two goals of the first half were scored by Carly Camphausen and Maddie Joyce.
Brown outscored Sacred Heart 4-1 in the third quarter as Greta Criqui scored three goals in the frame, Carly Camphausen also netted her second goal of the game in the third as Brown took an 11-2 advantage into the final 15 minutes.
Brown scored a game-high seven goals in the fourth quarter, the Bears had six different players find the back of the net in the fourth as Sydney Rathjen paced Brown with two goals in the frame.
Greta Criqui scored a game-high six goals while dishing out one assist, the senior also had five draw controls. Adele Atherton scored three goals to go along with four assists, matching Criqui with a game-high seven points. Claire Mahoney made nine saves while allowing just two goals in her third win this season.
As a team, Brown had eight different goal scorers and won the draw control battle 17-5.
Brown will return to Stevenson-Pincince Field to take on Vermont (Mar. 1) at 3:30 p.m.
