Women's Hockey Earns 4-3 Win Over Rensselaer
2/1/2025 6:39:00 PM | Women's Ice Hockey
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey (12-10-3, 7-8-3 ECAC) bounced back with a 4-3 win over Rensselaer (12-15-3, 5-11-2 ECAC) as Jade Iginla netted two goals. Iginla finished the night with three points and India McDadi had two.
Iginla got things started quickly for the Bears, finding the net less than four minutes into the game. Iginla stole a bad pass and raced up the sideboards, cutting through two defenders before beating RPI's goalie blocker side.
RPI responded a couple minutes later with a tying goal past Edwards.
In the second period Brown took advantage of another miscue by RPI as Iginla stripped the defender of the puck behind the goal. Iginla wrapped around the goal and centered it to McDadi who found the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season.
Brown's lead only lasted a few minutes with RPI tying the game while both teams were a skater down. Playing 4-on-4, a shot by the Engineers from the point was deflected past Edwards to make it 2-2.
Two minutes later, Brown had the 5-on-3 advantage and made the most of it. Iginla's shot from straight on hit a defender on the ankle and took her out of the play. Cameron Sikich sent the puck back in front of the goal and in the scrum, Sam Broz back handed the puck to Monique Lyons who scored her 13th of the year, again putting Brown ahead.
Rensselaer tied the game five minutes later as the game went to the third period knotted at three.
The Bears had multiple rushes in the third and it was Iginla's second goal of the game that put Brown on top for the final time. Margot Norehad passed to Iginla, who went across to McDadi. McDadi quickly centered the puck back to Iginla who had a wide open net for the game winning goal.
Edwards finished the night with 24 saves, making multiple saves with RPI on the 6-on-5 advantage, having pulled the goal with two minutes left.

Brown will be home next weekend for the final home weekend of the regular season. The Bears will play host to Harvard on Friday (Feb. 7) before taking on Dartmouth on Saturday (Feb. 8) for Senior Day.
