Women’s Basketball Rounds Out Non-Conference Play with 76-24 Win Over Wheaton

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's basketball team (8-4) rounded out non-conference play with its eighth win of the season 76-24, over the Wheaton Lyons (3-7).
Five Bears finished in double figures, with sophomore guard Sela Klein setting a career-high 11 points. Senior guard Grace Arnolie led Brown with 13 points, while Klein followed close behind with 11 points. Senior forwards Ada Anamekwe and Alyssa Moreland, and sophomore guard Monét Witherspoon tacked on 10 points apiece.
Aside from Klein's 11 points, she also assisted on a career-high four baskets, four field goals made, and one free-throw made. She tied her career-high three-pointers made with two.
Multiple Bears set career-highs with first-year guard Lindsay Harzich grabbing six rebounds, assisting on one basket, and two steals. First-year forward Isabella Wesley grabbed 10 rebounds, and tied her one block high. Witherspoon grabbed a career-high seven rebounds.
Moreland shot a perfect 5-5 from the field, grabbed nine rebounds, assisted on two baskets, and posted a block and steal.
Arnolie went 6-8 from the field, and shot 50% from beyond the arc. She posted two rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
The Bears got on the board first just 15 seconds after tip-off, and remained in control for the remainder of the game. Brown continued the trend of keeping its opponents to single-digits each quarter. The Bears did just that for three quarters of the contest. After 10 minutes, Brown outscored Wheaton 21-8.
Brown opened the second quarter with a 16-0 run that didn't conclude until there was 1:45 remaining in the quarter. Wheaton's Cheyenne Colbert hit a three-pointer, which later proved to be the Lyons' only basket in the second quarter. The Bears tacked on four more points ahead of the break to stretch their lead 41-11.
Wheaton netted two quick baskets coming out of the break, and scored a game-high 10 points in the third quarter. Brown added 24 points to its advantage.
The Bears again held the Lyons to just three points in the final quarter. Brown netted 11 more points to earn a 76-24 win.
The Bears shot 42% from the field, and scored 20 points on turnovers. The bench put up 45 of Brown's points.
Up Next
The Bears will begin Ivy League play on Monday, Jan. 5 when they take on the Yale Bulldogs. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside of Lee Amphitheater.
