Men's Hockey Hosts Princeton and #5 Quinnipiac in Weekend Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (0-2-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) play its first home games and first conference games of the campaign this weekend at Meehan Auditorium. The Bears host the Princeton Tigers (2-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) on Friday before welcoming the fifth-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats (5-2-2, 0-0-0 ECAC) on Saturday.
Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the home weekend after opening the season last weekend with a pair of games at Air Force. Brown fell 2-0 in the season-opener before dropping a 4-3 final in the second game of the series.
- Tanner Hartman, Brian Nicholas, and Ryan St. Louis found the back of the net for the Bears. Ivan Zadvernyuk and Matt Desiderio both tallied two assists in the two games.
- Between the pipes, senior Tyler Shea recorded 53 saves and allowed two goals. He holds a 1.12 goals against average and a .964 save percentage.
- Brown's power play went 0-for-4 in the opening weekend while the penalty kill was a perfect 5-for-5.
- Princeton enters the weekend with a 2-0-0 mark after picking up a home sweep over Alaska-Fairbanks last weekend at Hobey Baker Rink.
- The Tigers took a 5-2 win in the first game and a 6-3 win in the second game to earn the sweep.
- Jaxson Ezman picked up three goals and an assist in the opening games. Kai Daniells and Brendan Gorman both tallied two goals and two assists.
- Eleven Tigers found the scoresheet in the sweep over the Nanooks.
- Between the pipes, Arthur Smith played both games and holds a 2.50 goals against average and a .902 save percentage.
- Princeton's power play went 1-for-5 in the first two games. The penalty kill allowed three goals in seven attempts.
- Princeton ranks 15th nationally at the faceoff dot with a 53.0% win percentage.
- Brown and Princeton meet for the 186th time in a series dating back to 1900 on Friday at Meehan Auditorium.
- The Bears hold a 94-78-13 all-time record against the Tigers and have won each of the last two meetings.
- The Bears hold a 48-37-5 home record and a 41-37-5 mark at Meehan.
- Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a 5-2-2 overall record and is ranked fifth in both the USCHO.com poll and the USA Hockey poll.
- The Bobcats hold wins over Boston College, Notre Dame, Maine, Holy Cross, and New Hampshire. Quinnipiac tied Maine and Alaska-Fairbanks and dropped games to Alaska-Fairbanks and Merrimack.
- The Bobcat offense averages 3.38 goals per game with Chris Pelosi, Jeremy Wilmer, and Ethan Wyttenbach leading the team with five goals apiece. Wyttenbach leads the team with 10 points.
- Markus Vidicek and Aaron Schwartz lead the Bobcats with six assists apiece.
- Quinnipiac's power play ranks 19th nationally at 24.4% (10-41) with the penalty kill clicking at 79.3% (23-29) to rank 35th in the NCAA.
- Between the pipes, Matej Marinov holds a 2.12 goals against average and a .904 save percentage in six starts. Dylan Silverstein holds a 1.69 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in three starts.
- Saturday marks the 53rd meeting between the Bears and Bobcats in a series dating back to 2006.
- Quinnipiac holds the series edge, 35-10-7, with an 11-4-4 record at Meehan Auditorium.
- Brown's opening games at Air Force are by far the highest elevation at any rink this season.
- The next highest are Colgate's Class of 1965 Arena (1,100) and Cornell's Lynah Rink (860).
- Four arenas on Brown's schedule this season are less than 50 feet above sea level - Harvard's Bright-Landry Hockey Center (0), Northeastern's Matthews Arena (20), Stonehill's Warrior Ice Arena (30), and Yale's Ingalls Ice Rink (30).

- Goaltender Tyler Shea stopped 53-of-55 shots faced in the opening weekend against the Air Force Falcons.
- He recorded 32 saves and allowed one goal in the season-opener, a 2-0 loss. He then made 21 saves with one goal against in relief the following night.
- Shea holds a .964 save percentage and 1.12 goals against average through the opening weekend.
- Among goalies with 100+ minutes played this season, Shea's save percentage and goals against average rank second to Bentley's Nicholas Bevilacque (.973, 0.67).
- Sophomore forward Ivan Zadvernyuk and freshman defenseman Matt Desiderio both finished the second game against Air Force with two assists.
- For Zadvernyuk, it marked the fourth career multi-point game of his collegiate career.
- Freshman defenseman Ashton Bynum, a Celina, Texas is the second Texan to suit up for the Brown men's ice hockey program, joining Garth Klimchuk '84, a Houston native.
- Since the 1966-67 season, Brown players have hailed from 28 states, nine Canadian provinces/territories, and five other nations.
- Notable states include Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
- From north of the border, Bears have hailed from Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon territory.
- Outside of North America, Bears have come from China, Finland, Italy, Norway, and Russia. Sophomore Ivan Zadvernyuk is the first Russian in program history.
