PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After a dual meet victory against Davidson and four wrestlers winning their weight brackets at the Army Black Knight Invitational, the Bears turn their attention towards the Big Red Invitational in Ithaca, New York this Sunday.
The Big Red Invitational is hosted by Cornell, one of the premier wrestling programs in the country and the top ranked team in the Ivy League. The Bears will have an early season opportunity to test themselves against a program that has become a perennial national championship contender, with several Bruno wrestlers standing out in the early portion of their schedule.Â
Among those standout performers are Max Norman (165) and Andrew Reall (197), ranked 28th and 31st in their respective weight classes according to FloWrestling. Norman enters Sunday with a 6-2 overall record and two ranked wins. The freshman from Kingsport, Tennessee has been a revelation for the Bears, who continue to see strong returns from a freshman class that also includes Khimari Manns (141) and his 8-4 overall record.Â
Reall, who has an 8-1 record on the season and a 20-17 overall career record, has recorded two pinfall victories, three tech falls, and two major decisions on the season. With his technical prowess and collegiate experience on display, Reall looks to shoot up the national rankings with a strong outing on Sunday.Â
In the heavyweight bracket, Alex Semenenko (285) has been nothing short of dominant to begin the season, with a 4-0 record propelled by three pinfalls and a major decision victory.Â
