Wrestling Wins Four Weight Classes at Army Black Knight Invitational

WEST POINT, N.Y. - After a dominant 35-15 dual meet victory against the Davidson Wildcats yesterday morning at the Pizzitola Sports Center, Brown hit the road for competition at the Army Black Knight Invitational. The Bears continued what has been an incredibly strong start to the season, with four wrestlers winning their weight brackets this afternoon.
"Our guys had a good weekend. We don't take these wins for granted," Marvin Wilenzik '56 Head Coaching Chair for Brown Wrestling Jordan Leen said. "It wasn't that long ago that we were on the other side of these matches. That being said, what matters most is the way our guys are competing. All the other stuff is just noise. Our guys competed the right way this weekend, trying to score from whistle to whistle."
Alex Semenenko (285) won his bracket by securing three victories (two pinfalls and one major decision) to improve to 4-0 on the weekend with three pinfalls. Semenenko, who ranked in the top five nationally last season with 13 pinfalls, has started this season on a torrid pace as he eyes the single-season program record of 14 falls, set by Tivon Abel in 1994-95 and Ophir Bernstein in 2013-14.
Andrew Reall (197) continues to back up his 31st overall national ranking by FloWrestling, with several victories en route to winning his bracket. Reall defeated Reid Schroeder (Army) via pinfall in 6:08 in the final round. Max Norman (165) also went 3-0 on the day and recorded a pinfall victory in 1:52 against Ryan Alvarado (Army) in the final round of his bracket. Norman picked up the first ranked victory of his collegiate career at Brown with a win over Davidson's Tanner Peake (30th) on Saturday morning.
Austin McBurney (149) went 4-0 this afternoon, winning his bracket by 5-1 decision against Hofstra's Noah Tapia. McBurney has started his 2025-26 campaign with a 9-2 overall record, establishing himself as one of the top performers on the team.
Other notable performances came from Ethan Mojena (157) and Connor O'Donnell (165), with both wrestlers placing third overall in their respective brackets.
The Bears head back home to Providence to prepare for the Big Red Invitational at Cornell on Nov. 23.
