
Wrestling Wins First Dual Meet of the Season Against Davidson

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Earlier this morning, Brown competed in its first of five home meets for the 2025-26 season, earning a 35-15 dual victory against the Davidson Wildcats at the Pizzitola Sports Center.Â
"Our guys competed hard today,"Â Marvin Wilenzik '56 Head Coaching Chair for Brown Wrestling Jordan Leen said. "We enjoyed being at home in the Pizz. Max Norman was the story of the day, recording a ranked win in the first home dual of his career."Â
Thomas Sandoval (184) started the action by securing a 14-4 major decision victory over Davidson's Cody Kirk. Brown's Andrew Reall (184) continued his excellent start to the season with a win over Daniel Elyash (Davidson) by a final score of 19-3, resulting in a tech fall victory for the nationally ranked Reall (31st overall according to FloWrestling).Â
Alex Semenenko (285) made his season debut for the Bears, picking up right where he left off last year by earning a pinfall victory against Davidson's DJ Spring in 2:54. Austin McBurney (149), coming off of a 4-2 performance at the Princeton Open, earned a 5-4 decision against Davidson's Anderson Heap.Â
As alluded to earlier, the Bruno freshmen continue to make a strong impression this season, with Max Norman (165) earning a ranked victory against Davidson's Tanner Peake (30th overall according to FloWrestling). Norman won via pinfall in 2:39, securing Brown's second pinfall victory of the day.Â
Another standout performance came from Ethan Mojena (157), who defeated Davidson's Marley Washington via tech fall, 17-0. With the win, Mojena moves to 4-2 overall on the season. In total, the Bears won six of eight matches on the day, with each team forfeiting once.Â
