
Men’s Soccer Hosts Columbia in Final Home Match of Regular Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will welcome Columbia to Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday evening for their final home match of the regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Prior to kickoff, the Bears will honor their six-member senior class of Henrik Weiper, Greyson Mitchell, Langdon Gryglas, Mads Stistrup Petersen, Jamin Gogo Peters, and Adolfo Diaz.
As a part of Brown soccer's doubleheader there will be a face painting station, poster making, spin to win prize wheel, and lawn games from pregame of the women's game until the start of the men's game.
The first 50 fans to order will receive a free hot chocolate at each match (limited to one per person, per match).
Scouting the Bears (5-6-2, 1-3-1 Ivy)
- The Bears' last time on the pitch was on Saturday, Oct. 25 when they dropped their match 2-1 at Cornell.
- The Bears struck first against the Big Red, getting on the board just three minutes into the match. First-year forward Mateo Pereyra was able to capitalize on a long-throw, netting his fourth goal of the season.
- Pereyra (4G, 8pts) has the third-most points on Brown, behind senior Mads Stistrup Petersen (3G, 3A, 9pts) and junior Lorenzo Amaral (2G, 5A, 9pts).
- Defenders Iyke Dafe and Zion Wharton, along with Brown's defense played a key role in the matchup, blocking shots and holding off the Big Red from scoring in the first half.
- Senior goalkeeper Henrik Weiper made a season-high eight saves against Cornell.
- Since scoring his fourth goal against the Big Red, Pereyra has moved into the top 10 in the Ivy League in goals. He sits in ninth, with an average of .333 goals per match.
Scouting the Lions (3-6-4, 1-3-1 Ivy)
- The Lions' last time on the pitch was on Tuesday night when they wrapped up non-conference play against Fordham, defeating them 5-1.
- Columbia's last Ivy League contest was on Saturday, Oct. 25 when they beat Harvard 3-1.
- Stepan Kapranov (4G) and Jack McDaid (3G, 2A) lead the Lions in scoring, with eight points apiece.
- Kapranov ranks seventh in the Ivy League in goals, averaging .308 per game.
- Goalkeeper Dean Kelliher has the fourth-most shutouts in the conference, averaging .222 per game. He also holds fifth in the Ivy League in saves per game, averaging 3.33.
- Kelliher has a 1.222 goals against average, placing him sixth in the conference. He also ranks sixth in saves with a .732 save percentage.
History
- In their last 10 meetings, the Bears hold a 5-3-2 record over the Lions.
- Brown has won the last two matches (2023 and 2024) 3-1 and 4-0, respectively.
- Since 2008, Brown holds a 9-4-3 record over Columbia.
