
Men’s Soccer Travels to Cornell on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's soccer team will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to take on the Cornell Big Red on Saturday evening. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Scouting the Bears (5-5-2, 1-2-1 Ivy)
- The Bears last played at Harvard on Oct. 18, falling 4-2 to the Crimson.
- Senior forward Jamin Gogo Peters netted his third goal of the season, scoring the equalizing goal to tie the game at one.
- In the 19th minute, junior forward Lorenzo Amaral (Orlando, Fla./Oviedo) sent a pass over the head of Harvard's Ethan Veghte to first-year midfielder Marshall Treese (Naples, Fla./Shattuck St. Mary’s). Treese sent the ball across the box to Gogo Peters for the score.
- With his assist on Gogo Peters' goal, Amaral recorded his fifth assist of the season.
- First-year Forward Mateo Pereyra also earned his third goal of the season against Harvard, giving the Bears a 2-1 edge over the Crimson at the time. His goal came from a throw-in by senior defender Greyson Mitchell (Littleton, Colo./Heritage).
- Amaral leads Brown in scoring with two goals and five assists, for nine points. Senior midfielder Mads Stistrup Petersen has also tallied nine points, from three goals and three assists.
- Gogo Peters and Pereyra are right behind Amaral and Stistrup Petersen, with three goals apiece for six points.
- Amaral is the only Brown player (non-goalkeeping) to rank within the top ten of multiple statistical categories within the Ivy League. He ranks fourth in shots (2.50/g), fourth in assists (.417), and sixth in shots on goal (1.08/g).
- Goalkeeper Max Pfaffman also ranks within the top seven of the Ivies in four statistical categories. He ranks third in saves per game (3.43/g), fourth in saves (.774), fifth in goals against average (1.034/g), and sixth in shutouts per game (.286).
- Brown averages the fourth-most shots on goal in the conference with an average of 4.42 per game.
- Brown (48th) is the third-highest ranked Ivy in RPI behind only Princeton (No. 1) and Cornell (26th).
Scouting the Big Red (10-2-1, 3-1-0 Ivy)
- The Big Red return First Team All-Ivy, First Team All-Region and Third Team All-American Connor Miller, and First Team All-Ivy, First Team All-Region, and Charlotte Football Club draftee Andrew Johnson.
- Cornell was selected to finish tied for second with Princeton in the Men's Soccer Ivy League Preseason Poll. The Big Red received one first place vote.
- In their last time out, Cornell hosted Syracuse for their final non-conference match of the season. They defeated the Orange 2-1, to extend their winning streak to three-straight.
- The Big Red's two losses of the season came against UC Irvine on Sept. 8 where they lost 1-0. They dropped a conference match to then-ranked No. 9 Princeton, 2-0.
- Westin Carnevale leads Cornell in scoring with six goals and two assists for 14 points. Giorgios Diakos (3G, 5A) and Sergio Zapata (4G, 3A) follow behind with 11 points apiece.
- Goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg has started all 13 matches for the Big Red, allowing only eight goals so far this season.
- Cornell currently ranks first in the Ivy League in shots (9.23 SOG/g), points (7.31/g), and assists (2.231/g).
- The Big Red have allowed the second-least amount of goals in the conference behind Princeton.
- Cornell is the second-highest ranked Ivy in RPI at 26th, with only Princeton ahead of them in first.

- This will be the 72nd meeting between the two programs.
- The Bears hold a 39-25-7 record over the Big Red.
- In their last meeting, Cornell earned the win 1-0.
