Women’s Soccer Plays to a 2-2 Draw at Harvard
10/18/2025 9:48:00 PM | Women's Soccer
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown women's soccer team (8-2-4, 2-1-2 Ivy) played to a 2-2 draw against the Harvard Crimson (5-4-2, 3-2 Ivy) on Saturday night.
The Bears dominated offensively in the first half, outshooting Harvard 11-4 with 6 shots landing on target.
Brown struck first, getting on the board in the 31st minute with a goal from senior defender Naya Cardoza. Cardoza scored on a corner kick opportunity from junior midfielder Audrey Lam. Cardoza now leads the Ivy League in scoring with seven goals.
"I'm proud of the way the team showed up today." Messing Family Head Coach Kia McNeill said. "I thought we competed hard and, for the most part, were on the front foot throughout the game. At this point in the season, it's really a game of inches. It comes down to finishing your chances and minimizing mistakes. We scored two fantastic goals, but the reality is we had opportunities to put the game away, and that could have been the difference. We gave up an unfortunate goal that let them back in, and from there it was clear Harvard was content with the tie while we were still pushing for the win. In the end, it was just too little, too late."
Coming out of the break Harvard's Anna Rayhill netted the equalizer, tying things at 1-1.
In the 61st minute, junior forward Angelina Vargas gave Brown the one-goal edge over the Crimson. Senior defender Layla Shell dished a pass to Vargas, that she sent into the back of the net on a long-range shot.
Harvard retaliated in the 74th minute when Jasmine Leshnick netted a goal to tie the score up at 2-2.
Competition remained tight for the remainder of the match, but both teams were unable to capitalize on opportunities to break the draw.
